The government of Uasin Gishu announced to its citizen about a scholarships in Canada and Finland for university students.

The requirements were very simple, you were required to pay over 600,000 for your child to be placed in the list of those who could join.
Parents sacrificed their all time saving while others sold everything and others went to an extent of taking loans inorder to secure a place for their kids.
A total of around ksh 957,167,143 was credited to Uasin Gishu Education trust fund account by parents between may 2021 And December 2022.

Upon the huge amounts being deposited to the trust fund, ksh 257,326,740 was debited to Uasin Gishu overseas accounts to carter for intermediaries and agents who were involved in the transmission of the universities in Finland and Canada.
But here is the biggest twist ksh 56,538,429 were withdrawn locally by the individuals assigned to manage the trust account.
Upon all the 257 million sent overseas, three universities threatened to deport students back to the country due to the huge arrears.

As of July 2023, Uasin Gishu Education trust fund had a total of ksh 1, 805,000.
Few students were able to join the university but according to parents whose kids didn’t get to go yet they payed the huge amount claimed that only the children of the politicians went.
