Pentagon: US Was Not Notified in Advance About Israel’s West Bank Operations

1–2 minutes

In a significant revelation, the Pentagon has confirmed that the United States was not notified in advance about Israel’s recent military operations in the West Bank. During a press briefing, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated, “We were not notified about operations in the West Bank,” underscoring a lack of prior communication between the two allies regarding this sensitive military action.

The announcement came after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the successful completion of a “counterterrorism operation” in the Far’a area of the West Bank. According to the IDF, the operation targeted an “armed terrorist cell inside a vehicle” and resulted in the discovery of an explosives laboratory and operations center within a local mosque. The IDF claims to have found weapons, explosive devices, and other military equipment during the raid.

The operation has had deadly consequences, with reports from the Palestinian news agency WAFA indicating that eleven people were killed and 26 others injured as a result of the Israeli military’s actions.

This development raises questions about the level of coordination and communication between the US and Israel, particularly concerning military actions that could have broader geopolitical implications. The lack of prior notification could signal strains in the relationship or differing approaches to managing the ongoing conflict in the region.

As the situation continues to unfold, the absence of US involvement or foreknowledge of the operation may influence diplomatic dynamics, both within the region and on the international stage.
