Beirut, Lebanon – May 3, 2025 — The Lebanese militant and political group Hezbollah has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syrian territory, describing the actions as a “treacherous Zionist aggression” that threaten regional sovereignty and stability.

In a fiery statement, Hezbollah accused Israel of launching attacks under “flimsy pretexts and hollow slogans,” claiming these actions are part of a broader strategy to “dismantle Syria, fragment it, and sow discord among its people.” The group framed the strikes as part of a wider Israeli campaign against the so-called Axis of Resistance, which includes Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories.
“This Zionist aggression is a clear attempt to undermine the stability of the Syrian state and weaken its capabilities,” the statement read. “It comes in the same context as the ongoing attacks against Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.”
The Israeli military has not commented on the latest wave of attacks, though it has in the past acknowledged targeting Iranian-linked military infrastructure in Syria. Israel maintains that such operations are necessary to prevent weapons transfers to Hezbollah and to curb Iranian entrenchment near its borders.

Hezbollah, a key ally of both the Syrian regime and Iran, reiterated its support for Syria’s sovereignty, declaring that the Syrian people would resist any efforts to destabilize their nation. “We stress the importance of preserving Syria’s unity and sovereignty as an independent state,” Hezbollah asserted. “We express our confidence that the honorable people of Syria will stand as a formidable barrier against these sinister schemes.”
The group also called on the international community, particularly Arab nations, to intervene and halt what it described as a targeted campaign against the sovereignty, security, and stability of countries in the region.
The strikes come amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with ongoing conflict in Gaza, cross-border fire between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanese frontier, and increased fears of a broader regional war.
Observers warn that continued military escalation in Syria could have wider repercussions, dragging neighboring states deeper into conflict and threatening an already fragile regional balance.
