NEW DELHI / ISLAMABAD – The South Asian region is on high alert as tensions between India and Pakistan have exploded into a dramatic military escalation. In response to India’s recent precision airstrikes on Pakistan’s Rawalpindi, Marid, and Shorkot airbases, as well as a series of drone attacks on Islamabad, Pakistan has launched a large-scale retaliatory operation codenamed “Operation Ironclad Wall.”
According to initial battlefield reports, Pakistan deployed between 300 and 400 drones in a calculated attempt to overwhelm over 26 Indian Air Defence positions. Following this drone wave, ballistic and cruise missiles were launched, targeting key Indian military installations across the northern frontier.
Confirmed targets include:
- Pathankot and Jalandhar airbases
- Air Defence systems in Udhampur and Srinagar
- A weapons depot in Chandigarh
- Multiple Indian army positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir
Among the most high-profile casualties is Raj Kumar, the Deputy District Development Commissioner of Jammu & Kashmir, who was reportedly killed in cross-border artillery fire.
One of the more alarming developments is an unconfirmed report of a Pakistani missile being intercepted near New Delhi, indicating the potential reach of Islamabad’s missile strike. If verified, this would mark one of the closest threats to India’s capital in decades.
Footage circulating online, including a fourth video allegedly from Rawalpindi airbase, shows the aftermath of India’s earlier airstrikes, with smoke plumes and emergency response crews on the scene.
This is the most significant exchange between the two nuclear-armed rivals since the Kargil conflict, and military analysts warn that both nations are edging dangerously close to a full-scale war. With both sides trading missiles and artillery across sensitive and densely populated regions, global powers have urged immediate de-escalation.
So far, no official civilian casualty count has been released, but both nations are believed to have suffered substantial damage to strategic infrastructure.
The international community watches with alarm, as the crisis intensifies with each passing hour.
